After high school, Bobby pursued a semi-professional baseball career, playing for the Alexandria Aces, Shreveport Sports, and Monroe Sports. He was also an avid golfer throughout his adult life.

After retiring from baseball, Bobby returned to plumbing full-time and earned his Master Plumber license. In 1959, Bobby and his wife Doris founded Bobby L. Greene Plumbing & Heating Company with an old typewriter, a card table, and a single truck — operating out of their home. Bobby’s son Ricky Greene took over as owner and CEO, running the company for more than 40 years and significantly expanding the fleet and service area.
